We work directly with a small factory in Eastern China, which makes the most beautiful, handcarved walking and hiking sticks we have ever seen. Our 2011-2012 range features just three models, which combine craftsmanship, beauty of design, and the careful and sustainable use of natural materials. Our WS-001 model has intricate handcarving running right through from the body of the stick to the handle, and a simple but elegant spiral winding design from the top of the stick to the half-way point. The WS-002 model is made from bamboo, which combines amazing strength with light weight. Almost all scaffolding used to build skyscrapers in China is actually made from bamboo ! Finally, the WS-003 model is an elegant dark design with a handle carved into the shape of a bird. This is a symbol of long life in China, and there is no doubt that this stick should last a lifetime before being handed down to the next generation. All sticks are about 89cm long, and they can be shortened if needed simply by sawing a bit off the end. A spare rubber ferrule (tip) is included. At normal retail prices, these sticks would typically cost between double and triple what we charge, but because we deal directly with the manufacturer, we can pass on savings of up to 60% to you.
